New Jersey Lawmakers Move Bill to Revise Tax Foreclosure Rules
New Jersey lawmakers took a first step Monday to rewrite the state’s property tax foreclosure rules to comply with a US Supreme Court decision that ruled the practices unconstitutional.
The state Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee voted unanimously to advance a bill, S 2334, to ensure any financial gains from property tax foreclosures are returned to the former homeowners. It can now head to the Senate floor, but its counterpart in the Assembly is still awaiting committee action.
