In March, a Herkimer woman lost her home and six pets when fire destroyed her Main Road home.

Today, she and three of her neighbors were able to see their new homes put in place.

"They had been there for years without any improvements. Ultimately, the water system failed completely, so, it was a pretty rough situation," said Tolga Morawksi of the Greater Mohawk Valley Land Bank.

The Greater Mohawk Valley Land Bank took title to the property in tax foreclosure and worked with NYS Homes and Community Renewal to replace old, unsafe homes.
